Food Safety Modernization Act - Final Rule
On September 17, the FDA published the “Final Rule” to the Food Safety Modernization Act, which amends regulations for Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packing or Holding Human Food. GAWDA Consultant Tom Badstubner says that while the new rules are fairly detailed, most GAWDA members will not find them to be demanding. A White Paper on the Final Rule is available on the front page of GAWDA’s website, www.gawda.org under “Safety Alerts.”

Jim O’Conner, DeLille Oxygen Company
James F. “Jim” O’Conner, 79, president of DeLille Oxygen Company in Columbus, Ohio, began his 30-year career in the gases and welding industry by loading delivery trucks. The owner of DeLille Oxygen saw his energy, ability to learn quickly, and skill with people and processes. O’Conner worked his way up through the company filling cylinders, doing counter sales, outside sales, sales management and operations. He became president of the company in 1994, a position he held until his retirement in 2002.

Recognized as a straight shooter and a great motivator who inspired employees to work hard, he is remembered as a leader who had everyone’s back and whose employees returned the respect and did not want to let him down.

Mr. O’Conner loved children and knew the names and interests of employees’ children. He served as president of the Grove City Kids Association and supported the local 4H program. He was very fond of horse racing and owned several horses over the years.

Mr. O’Conner is survived by his wife Joan, three children, grandchildren and great children.

They wanted to find organizations with limited resources, were doing good work, and were making a positive difference in the lives of those less fortunate. And they found them! Please make your donation here to these two needy groups.
