Haun Welding Supply Acquires Two Firms in Western New York

Haun Welding Supply Inc., of Syracuse, N.Y., has purchased Danes Welding Supplies of Ontario, N.Y. and, in a separate transaction, Johnson Welding Supply of Batavia, N.Y.

Danes and Johnson both provide compressed and liquid gases, along with welding products and equipment.

“Danes has been a leading distributor in the Rochester market for over 60 years. We are excited to have Danes employees and customers join Haun Welding Supply,” said Joshua Haun, Haun Welding Supply’s director of operations and marketing. “We have had a solid business relationship with Danes through the years. The mutual respect we have had for each other’s businesses made this an easy decision.”

Regarding Johnson Welding Supply, Haun said, “Mark Johnson has done a great job building customer relationships in the Batavia area. We are excited to have Mark and his customers join Haun Welding Supply.”

Haun Welding Supply has offices throughout New York, Vermont, and Pennsylvania.


A-OX Adds Seventh Store, Expanding into North Dakota

A-OX Welding Supply has opened a new location in Fargo, North Dakota. The new store joins A-OX’s six other locations in South Dakota – Sioux Falls, Watertown, Huron, Mitchell, Yankton – and Sioux City, IA.

In a release, the company said that Fargo, the largest city in North Dakota,  is a key location for A-OX to continue its expanding coverage of the Great Plains region.

As part of the expansion, A-OX added Jesse Hopewell as regional sales manager, Jason Schoenberg as store manager, Matt Mischke as full service repair technician and Jeremy Hopewell and Dan Hopewell in sales. The company noted that the new members have 75 years combined gas and welding supply experience within the Fargo-Moorhead area.


Atlas Welding Adds Dean and Foster to Sales Team

Atlas Welding Supply of Tuscaloosa, Ala., has hired Chuck Dean and Jimmy Foster to the firm’s sales team.

Dean has more than 20 years of sales and sales management experience. He will identify new markets with the help of their existing sales staff and by adding new associates. New to the industry, he said, “I’m extremely grateful and excited about this great opportunity and look forward to forging long term relationships with each of our key suppliers and customers. I have a lot to learn, but feel with the wealth of knowledge and experience of our current staff. We will continue our momentum of adding value to our suppliers and customers.”

“Chuck brings to us a reputation and proven results in his ability to recruit, develop and lead sales teams towards success. I’m confident that Chuck will play a key role in providing and implementing high quality solutions for our customers,” said Bill Visintainer, Atlas president and CEO.

Foster has expertise in the welding industry and  will be completing his degree in Welding Science this summer and will complete his CWI designation shortly thereafter. His role will be to develop new markets, identify valuable added solutions for our current customer base and assist our current sales staff. “Jimmy brings a unique perspective and we feel confident he will help us towards a bright future,” said Dean.


AIWD Interviewing for Executive Director

The Association of Independent Welding Distributors (AIWD), a buying group consisting of approximately 145 independent business owners and over 100 vendors within the welding and compressed gas industries, is interviewing for the position of executive director. The right candidate will work directly under the supervision of AIWD’s board of directors, headed by President Ronny Ruyle of Tyler Welders Supply, the organization said in a release.

“Our board consists of independent business owners from around the country,” Ruyle said.  “We are all members of this group and take a very personal interest in the type of individuals we select to represent our values and effectively manage the many moving parts of our organization.”

The executive director must have extensive experience in the gas and welding industry, the press release said. “In addition to overseeing the day-to-day administration of AIWD programs, the right candidate will also be responsible for interviewing and recruiting new members and perform as a positive and productive liaison between members and vendors.”
