Tech Air to Acquire Prest-O-Sales and Prest-O-Peconic

Connecticut-based distributor Tech Air has signed a definitive agreement to acquire New York-based Prest-O-Sales & Service of Long Island City (Queens, NY) and Prest-O-Peconic of Riverhead, NY (Long Island). The companies, which were founded in 1926 and 1985 respectively, serve a wide range of customers and industries. The companies will become part of Tech Air of New York. These will be Tech Air’s tenth and eleventh add-on acquisitions. Tech Air now operates through 27 branch and fill plant locations and serves customers in the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and West. “The combination with Tech Air is an outstanding result for Prest-O-Sales’ and Prest-O-Peconic’s customers and employees,” says James E. Madison, president of both companies. “Our focus on delivering high level customer service and our family-oriented culture are important values shared with Tech Air. We believe that our customers and employees will benefit from Tech Air’s resources and are looking forward to continuing our growth in the New York metropolitan area.”

Noble Gas Solutions Begins 75th Year by Giving Away

Noble Gas Solutions, founded in 1940, is celebrating 75 years in business by giving away $75,000. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region was the first recipient of Noble’s anniversary gift. The organization, based in Albany, NY, received a 2015 Honda Odyssey from Noble Gas Solutions. President & CEO Dave Mahoney plans to honor other charities throughout his company’s year of celebration.

Dave and Donna Mahoney (center) founded the GAWDA Gives Back program when Dave was president of GAWDA (then NWSA) in 2000. You can read how they did it here. Acme Expands Sales Team

Acme Cryogenics has added Brad Kitzel to its sales force. Kitzel joins Acme as a sales engineer and will assist in sales and project engineering for the VJ Piping Division in Ball Ground, GA, focusing on new market opportunities. He brings 20 years of experience in the engineering and sale of vacuum insulated pipe with a recent focus on LNG piping applications, working on projects from particle accelerators and space launch complexes to food freezing and special effects.

Bud Allen Named Kaplan Vice President

Bud Allen was named vice president of sales and marketing for Kaplan Industries. He previously served as director of sales and marketing for the Blue Steel and Kaplan Scuba division.

Red Ball Oxygen Adds Technical Gas Business Development Manager

Marc Galkin joined Red Ball Oxygen as business development manager for the Technical Gas Division. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with degrees in Nuclear Chemistry and Propulsion Engineering, Galkin comes to Red Ball with more than 20 years of experience, 16 of them in nuclear power plant operations before going to Scott Specialty Gas. He most recently worked as a strategic accounts manager for Airgas.
