nexAir Acquires HICO of Jackson dba National Balloon & Banner

nexAir acquired the assets and operations of National Balloon & Banner, dba HICO of Jackson, a 28-year-old helium distributor in Jackson, MS. The acquisition bolsters nexAir’s footprint in central Mississippi, joining nearby locations in Pearl and Louisville. “The HICO team’s addition will help to further strengthen our existing operations in Jackson and central Mississippi,” says Kevin McEniry, CEO at nexAir. “We’re hopeful that this acquisition will enhance product offerings for customers of both companies.”

Osborn Names Territory Sales Manager for Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama

Kevin Pearson was hired as a territory sales manager for Osborn’s Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama territories with responsibilities for growing and servicing technical sales. Although new to the brush industry, Pearson has more than 20 years of sales experience in the southeast region of the U.S., selling a variety of products for the extrusion, injection molding, stamping and casting industries on the distributor, aftermarket and OEM levels. Pearson also has experience in vendor management of MRO and industrial products.

Miller Acquires IMPACT Engineering

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. acquired IMPACT Engineering of Jackson, MI, a designer and manufacturer of weld data monitoring systems for over 20 years. The company previously partnered with Miller on welding information product development. Products from IMPACT Engineering will become part of the Miller Welding Intelligence offering, and the IMPACT Engineering company name will phase out at a future date.

Erica Jones Joins IWDC

Erica Jones joined IWDC as PurityPlus marketing director and will be responsible for driving growth of the PurityPlus program through increased IWDC member participation and enhanced end-user name recognition. Most recently, Jones served as director of sales for Cyl-Tec, Inc. Prior to that, she spent 12 years at Praxair in sales, operations and administration.

Air Products Spin-Off Company Gets Name

Versum Materials was selected as the new company name for the Materials Technologies business of Air Products. Derived from the Latin word for “toward,” the name “Versum” communicates the new company’s ability to continuously move toward materials and provide solutions and innovation. “Once complete, this separation will provide our new shareholders with ownership in two leading and focused companies while offering the opportunity to value our Industrial Gases and Materials Technologies businesses independently,” says Seifi Ghasemi, chairman, president and CEO at Air Products. Upon completion of the separation, Ghasemi will continue his role with Air Products and also become the non-executive chairman of Versum Materials. Guillermo Novo, currently the executive vice president of Materials Technologies, will become Versum Materials’ CEO at the completion of the spin-off. Versum Materials’ Electronic Materials Division provides materials to the semiconductor industry; the Performance Materials Division provides epoxy, polyurethane and specialty additives to the construction, composites, adhesives, coatings and other industries.
