Four Airgas Branches Honored for Excellence in Customer Service

Airgas named its National Branch of the Year winners for 2015. Awards are based on customer service, safety and financial performance in FY2015. In the large branch category, winners were the Kingsport, TN, and Elk Grove Village, IL, branches. New Philadelphia, OH, and Fort Lauderdale, FL, took top honors in the small branch category. Railroad Trains Safe Handling of Alternative Fuels at Coastal Welding Supply

Charlie Esparza, an instructor in the Alternative Energy Division of the Railroad Commission of Texas, conducted a safety class at Coastal Welding Supply’s training facility and 50,000 sq. ft. fill plant in Beaumont, TX. Attendees included people who handle propane, including those who own stores, RV parks, employees of hardware stores, and other distributors. Some drove 100 miles to attend this one-day training. The Railroad Commission of Texas is the state agency responsible for regulating the safe storage, transportation and use of LPG, CNG and LNG. The Alternative Fuels Safety (AFS) department enforces both the state statutes and the Commission’s regulations on these fuels, and provides training to individuals working in the alternative fuels industry and merchants who handle these fuels.

Coastal affords area business and industry partners the use of their state-of-the art, multi-media training facility, featuring stadium and handicap accessible seating for 50, Wi-Fi and a food service area.

“Welding on Wheels” Brings Training Lab to Job Sites

The “Welding on Wheels” lab is a bus-sized trailer that goes to company sites to train welders. The mobile training lab houses a small classroom and four welding work stations and can train up to eight students for entry-level welding positions in five weeks. Read more.

Tech Air Acquires Geneva Gas & Supply

Tech Air acquired Los Angeles-based Geneva Gas & Supply, Inc. Founded in 2010, Geneva will become part of Tech Air of California. Former owners Glen Irving and Jack Storm will continue to be employed by the company. Irving will serve as president of Tech Air of California. Geneva is Tech Air’s seventh acquisition in the last 12 months, and the thirteenth since CI Capital acquired the company in partnership with Tech Air’s management in 2010. Tech Air now operates through 29 branch and fill plant locations and serves customers in the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and West.
