All Gas Welding Supply Opens Fourth Store

All Gas Welding Supply Co. opened a store at 6525 Route 209 in Kerhonkson, NY. The 2,000 sq. ft. store contains a welding supplies and propane heating appliance showroom, along with 60,000 gallons of propane gas storage. President Michael Taylor says the new facility will better service a growing customer base of residential and commercial customers, as sales have been growing not only in compressed gases and welding supplies, but also in retail propane gas, fuel oil and diesel fuel through the company’s energy division, Combined Energy Services. The new facility will provide for a walk-in retail outlet as well as new distribution center for delivery trucks that service the area. This is the fourth location for All Gas Welding Supply Co., which is headquartered in Monticello, NY.

Airgas to Build Liquid Hydrogen Plant in Kentucky

Airgas plans to build a liquid hydrogen plant in Calvert City, KY, targeted to be on-stream in the summer of 2016 with the capacity to produce 10 tons per day of liquid hydrogen for use in a wide range of customer applications, including electrical power generation; the production of metals, glass, chemicals, and food products; and emerging applications for hydrogen-powered fuel cells. “We have many hydrogen customers, but our new, state-of-the-art, liquid hydrogen facility in Calvert City will be the first of its kind for Airgas and provide an opportunity for growth,” says Airgas President and CEO Michael L. Molinini. “The facility will enable us to bring hydrogen solutions to customers in a variety of industries across much of the Southern United States and well into the Midwest.” The liquid hydrogen plant will neighbor Airgas’ new air separation unit that is expected to be on-stream in spring of 2016. The ASU will supply tonnage oxygen and nitrogen via pipeline to Westlake Chemical Corporation, as well as produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon for the region’s merchant bulk gas market.

Mike Farris was promoted to vice president, North Texas Region of Red Ball Oxygen. He previously served as business development manager for Red Ball Technical Gas Services. Farris has over 11 years of sales experience in the industrial gas and welding supply industry, with a primary focus on specialty gases. He also has 5 years of sales experience in the specialty chemicals industry. According to Red Ball Oxygen President Bob Ewing, “With his steady, calm, persistent demeanor, he consistently gets things done. I am confident Mike will provide our amazing team in North Texas with the quality leadership they deserve.”

Weiler Makes Multi-Million Dollar Investment

Weiler Corporation completed a multi-million dollar transformation to improve customer service and position the company for future growth. The initiative includes a new brand identity, facility expansion, increased staffing in key business areas, and new training tools. To support this effort, Weiler redesigned its website to include a simplified search function, products segmented by both industry and application, and a ‘Where to Buy’ section that connects customers to Weiler’s distributor partners. The transformation also includes a redesign of office space to create a more open, collaborative working environment, as well as a 60% increase in direct field sales support. The investment in headcount and training allows Weiler to be both more accessible to the customer and more consultative in identifying their pressing challenges and partnering to find and create solutions.

Acme Expands Sales Team

Brad Kitzel joined Acme Cryogenics as a sales engineer. He will assist in sales and project engineering for the VJ Piping Division in Ball Ground, GA, focusing on new market opportunities. Kitzel has 30 years of experience in the cryogenic and industrial gas industry, most recently focusing on LNG piping applications. He has worked on projects from particle accelerators and space launch complexes to food freezing and special effects.

Therese Mueller McLain was hired as director of corporate development for Welders Supply Company in Beloit, WI. Mueller McLain brings over 30 years of experience in business communications, marketing, team leadership, HR development and management and will develop strategies, plans and goals to expedite the growth and development of the Welders Supply organization. She holds an MS in Management, a BA in Communications and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and a 2014 recipient of the Zonta International Community Leadership Award.

voestalpine Bohler Welding changed its organizational structure to simplify customer interaction. The regional managers will remain a significant role in day-to-day assistance, but the addition of area managers will help distributors go through one person to funnel to the correct regional manager. Andy Schuk is area manager western USA. He was a regional manager serving California and Nevada. Lonnie Malley is now area manager central USA. He was a regional manager serving south and east Texas. Keith Kernic, previously a key account manager, is now area manager eastern USA.
