Haun Healthy

Haun Welding Supply, headquartered in Syracuse, NY, kicked off the “Haun Healthy” wellness campaign in March. To promote healthy eating and exercise among employees, several events are being held. The wellness campaign kicked off with a luncheon and guest speaker, a trainer from a local gym. The following week, over 20 employees took “A Walk with Mark” during lunchtime, a mile-long walk outside with company president Mark Haun, scheduled to become a regular event. Upcoming wellness activities include a healthy pot-luck lunch for employees along with a health fair, hiking and bowling outings, and trial memberships to local gyms. You can read more about what distributors are doing to promote wellness among their employees in “Workplace Wellness Initiatives,” an article in Welding & Gases Today magazine.

IWDC Celebrates 20th Anniversary by Supporting Military Foundation

In recognition of its March 1994 incorporation as a cooperative and consistent with a key cooperative principle: Concern for Community, IWDC is organizing a fund drive for The Wish For Our Heroes Foundation. “We bring together many of the best independent welding distributors and industry vendors to conduct business, network, train and learn from each other and adding in the opportunity for all participants to give to a worthy cause in recognition of this key milestone is a winner all around,” says Ed Holmes, IWDC’s VP of marketing & supply chain. Attendees will have multiple opportunities to participate, including donating by purchasing “Wish For Our Heroes” bonds which ties in nicely with the convention’s buying theme. The Wish For Our Heroes Foundation, headquartered in Noblesville, IN, was established in 2009 as a non-profit foundation whose sole purpose is to grant wishes for active-duty military soldiers and their families.
