Central Welding Supply Opens 19th Store

Central Welding Supply, headquartered in North Lakewood, WA, opened its 19th location in Kelso, WA at 2204 Talley Way. The 12,000 sq. ft. building includes a showroom and a warehouse. The local paper covered the opening, which you can read here.

Delivery Driver Saves Elderly Woman

John Morris

John Morris, a delivery driver for Lampton Welding Supply, became a hero on a routine delivery. While out on a delivery in Blue Rapids, Kansas, Morris was unloading his truck and heard someone crying for help. He quickly went to the aid of an elderly woman who had fallen in the snow next to her car and couldn’t get up. It had been snowing and the temperatures were below freezing. Morris immediately called 911 for an ambulance and then ran back to his truck to grab his coat and gloves. He put his coat and gloves on the woman and waited with her for the paramedics to arrive. Thanks to Morris’ quick actions, the woman suffered no major injuries.

Cyl-Tec Partners with Certified Cylinder Services

Aurora, IL — Cyl-Tec, Inc. formed a partnership with Ontario, Canada-based Certified Cylinder Services in Mississauga to create a new warehouse for compressed and liquefied gas cylinders, repair services and valves to better serve their Canadian market customers. “We are excited about this new partnership with Certified Cylinder Services,” says Cyl-Tec Executive Vice President Tom Bennett. “Together we now offer customers in Eastern Canada a local full service supplier for compressed gas and liquid cylinders as well as services.” The company will also offer a variety of key products and services, including cryogenic liquid cylinder repair.

Pamela Swanson Recognized for Excellence in Manufacturing

Pamela Swanson, president of Airgas’ North Central Region since 2009, was recognized for her excellence in the manufacturing industry with the Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Award, presented by The Manufacturing Institute. Swanson was one of 160 female industry recipients honored during an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on February 6. The STEP Awards are part of The Manufacturing Institute’s larger STEP initiative launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research and best practices for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent. “I am proud to accept this award from The Manufacturing Institute on behalf of Airgas and my female colleagues in the industry,” says Swanson. “Women are now, more than ever, stepping into the dynamic opportunities and roles available in the manufacturing industry and helping to lead the industry into its next generation. I am honored to be a part of that movement – as a woman and as an industry professional.”

Swanson is the second Airgas associate to receive a STEP Award. Karen Gilgenbach, advanced fabrication manager in Airgas’ North Central Region, was recognized in 2013.
