Dressel Welding Acquired by Tech Air
Danbury, CT — Tech Air announced the acquisition of York, Pennsylvania-based Dressel Welding Supply. Tech Air is owned by CI Capital Partners and the Company’s management. Myles Dempsey Jr., chief executive officer at Tech Air, says, “This transaction signifies our continued strategy of growth through selective acquisitions of key regional distributors. Dressel will serve as a strategic entry point into the highly attractive Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland markets.” CI Capital Partners Managing Director Joost Thesseling adds, “The acquisition of Dressel represents the next step in Tech Air’s buy-and-build strategy in the highly fragmented U.S. packaged gas sector.”

Pittsburgh, PA — Bob Urie, formerly general manager of purchasing and branch operations at Butler Gas Products was promoted to vice president of operations. Urie continues to lead the company’s purchasing efforts, branch locations and non-gas products sales model. Under his newly expanded role, Urie accepts greater responsibility with Butler Gas’ strategic opportunities, overall business operations and gas-focused activities.

AWISCO Expands with Acquisition, New Store
Maspeth, NY — AWISCO Corp. expanded its New York Metro Area Coverage through the acquisition of Independent Welding Supply (Bronx, NY) and the opening of a new location in Stamford, CT. “These new stores will enhance our ability to serve all of our customers in the tri-state area,” says President Lloyd Robinson. Arnie Arboleda was named branch manager for the Bronx store.  Arboleda started with the company’s service and repair department in 2009 and was promoted to Counter Sales in late 2010. Dennis Werthner takes on the role of branch manager at the Stamford store. He comes to AWISCO with more than 40 years of experience in the industry.

Buell Named Vice President at Central Welding
Marysville, WA — Central Welding Supply promoted General Manager Mike Buell to vice president. Dale Wilton, president and CEO, says, “It’s an official recognition of the responsibilities and role he’s been managing capably for many years.” Buell has been with Central Welding Supply for nearly 35 years and has served as general manager for over 25 years with responsibilities that include oversight of daily operations, purchasing, inventory, compliance and systems management, as well as a broad range of responsibilities related to overseeing and managing company-wide resources.

Three Promoted at TrackAbout
Moon Township, PA — Larry Silverman was promoted to executive vice president and chief technology officer at TrackAbout. Silverman has over 20 years of experience in information systems. Doug O’Dell was named vice president of sales. He will be responsible for domestic and international sales with a focus on strategic customer relationships. TrackAbout promoted Elizabeth Wallace to vice president of product management. She is responsible for working with technology and sales to drive customer-focused enhancements and features to company software.

Saf T Cart Plans Clarksdale Expansion
Clarskdale, MS — Saf T Cart will create 20 new jobs with the expansion of its Clarksdale, MS, operations. The company is investing $240,000 for the expansion in order to accommodate an increase in production. “We are pleased to announce our second expansion in five years,” says  President Jimmy Walker. “This has been made possible by having an outstanding team, an aggressive county government interested in growth, and a very supportive state and federal government.” The Mississippi Development Authority and Coahoma County are providing assistance for the project.

Airgas’ Young Receives Safety Award
Danbury, CT — The Compressed Gas Association awarded Duane Young, who headed Airgas’ Safety, Environmental, Compliance and Risk Management (SAFECOR) organization for more than 20 years, with the Charles H. Glassier Safety Award in recognition of his safety leadership. During his time with Airgas SAFECOR, he managed the development and implementation of 28 regulatory compliance systems for Airgas that led to a more than 60% reduction in the frequency and severity of workplace accidents. Airgas also received the CGA Fleet Safety Excellence Award for Cylinder Gas Transportation for companies with more than three million miles driven in 2011.

Air Liquide Employee Joins White House Forum
Houston, TX — Victoria Rockwell, director of investment and development at Air Liquide, took part in the recent White House Forum on Women and the Economy. Rockwell attended as president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. President Obama addressed the minority of women in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math. “No unspoken bias or outdated barrier should ever prevent a girl from considering careers in these fields,” he said. “When creativity is limited or ingenuity is discouraged, that hurts all of us.  It denies America the game-changing products and world-changing discoveries we need to stay on top.”
