Cross Texas Supply Opens New Store
San Angelo, TX — Cross Texas Supply relocated to a new building in San Angelo. The 11,700 sq. ft. location offers a more convenient location for existing customers as well as walk-in traffic, and provides additional space, enabling the company to better serve its customers from larger showroom and warehouse facilities. Cross Texas is looking to take advantage of the extra space by expanding its product lines, as well as its certified repair services for welding machines, generators and small engine repair.

Central Welding Acquires Cryogenics Biz
Marysville, WA — Central Welding Supply acquired Peninsula Cryogenics in Port Orchard, WA. President Dale Wilton says, “The acquisition and addition of Peninsula Cryogenics Owner Paul Feeney to Central’s team allows us to be even more responsive to South End opportunities and emergencies and enables us to more capitalize on the many gas and liquid systems and applications opportunities in the Puget Sound area.” said Wilton. Feeney will work with bulk, microbulk and gas systems installations and repairs, officially serving as representative in the southern Puget Sound region for Central Welding Supply’s XpressCryogenics division in Seattle.

nexAir Purchases Alabama Distributor
Memphis, TN — nexAir purchased the assets and operations of Opelika Industrial Gases in Opelika, AL. The acquisition expands nexAir’s reach in southeast Alabama and the southwest region of Georgia. Former Opelika Industrial Gases owners DeWayne Jones and Steve Scott joined the nexAir team and will continue to have direct involvement with serving customers in the region. “This is a very strategic acquisition for us as we continue to grow our footprint in the Southeast,” says Kevin McEniry, CEO of nexAir. “We look forward to having Steve, DeWayne and the other employees join nexAir to provide quality service to the Opelika community and surrounding areas.”

ORS Nasco Fuels Job Creation
Tulsa, OK — ORS Nasco expects to create 100 new jobs this year, including 60 in Tulsa. The company was admitted to the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program, in which the state will reimburse the employer up to 5 percent of state payroll taxes for new hires. ORS Nasco says it could create up to 600 jobs during the next 10 years, with an anticipated economic impact of $131.2 million.

Lincoln Acquires Weartech International
Cleveland, OH — Lincoln Electric acquired Weartech International, a producer of cobalt-based hard facing and wear-resistant welding consumables. Weartech is headquartered in Anaheim, CA, with manufacturing plants in Anaheim and Port Talbot, Wales. The company has annual sales of approximately $40 million and employs 140 people between the two locations. Lincoln CEO John Stropki says, “The acquisition of Weartech is a continuation of our ongoing strategy to expand the breadth of our consumable product portfolio to better service our global customer base. Weartech is well positioned globally in the specialized cobalt welding consumable market, selling primarily to the high growth energy and process chemical segments. We expect strong growth in these segments and believe the Weartech product line will help expand and deepen our relationships with key global customers.”

Cee Kay Plasma Cutting

Cee Kay demonstrated plasma cutting technology by making bottle openers emblazoned with the company logo.

Cee Kay Hosts Welding Show
St. Louis, MO — Cee Kay Supply’s Hil Bax Technical Center was home of the 10th Annual Mini Weld Show, an event that showcases the latest in safety, testing, welding tools and welding technology. More than 200 people were in attendance, including students and instructors from 20 area schools. Cee Kay demonstrated the technical center’s recently installed plasma cutting machine by cutting custom gas-cylinder-shaped bottle openers for attendees to take home. Presentations included a session on Phased Array Ultrasound Testing and a scholarship informational session for students.

Airgas Names Communications VP
Radnor, PA — Airgas named Doug Sherman as vice president – communications, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael L. Molinini. Sherman brings over 30 years of experience to this role leading the Communications team, which is responsible for supporting Airgas business strategies through the development and implementation of external and internal communications. Sherman has served as director – marketing communications for Airgas since 2002.

Air Liquide Purchases Natural Gas Plant Houston, TX — Air Liquide purchased the renewable natural gas assets of Georecover – Live Oak, a subsidiary of Jacoby Energy Development. Included in the sale was the company’s landfill gas processing facility in Conley, GA. The Conley facility processes all of the landfill gas from the adjacent Live Oak landfill, generating up to 1,500 MWh of renewable natural gas daily to be transported via pipeline. This natural gas can be used as a feedstock for renewable hydrogen, renewable compressed or liquefied natural gas or to generate renewable electricity.
