What 2012 Has In Store For GAWDA

GAWDA wants to make sure you start the year off on the right foot by taking advantage of a number of offers that can save you a considerable amount of time and money. The GAWDA Board of Directors approved a 25 percent early-bird discount for all GAWDA members who paid before January 13, 2012. At time of this publication, that offer has expired, but hopefully you have taken advantage of this renewal offer.

Once you’ve renewed your membership, keep an eye out for the launch of the GAWDA/CGA publications program that will be launched in the 1st Quarter of 2012. This new member benefit gives participating GAWDA distributor members the ability to access the Compressed Gas Association’s electronic safety standards—at no charge! All you have to do is sign up as a GAWDA subscriber, assign a company representative, and begin to access information online. This benefit of GAWDA membership will save you thousands of dollars, and may equal or in many cases surpass the price of your GAWDA membership. (Read story)

The newly formed GAWDA Foundation will begin rolling out details on opportunities that will benefit GAWDA members. The Foundation will provide scholarships to GAWDA company family members. The first scholarship recipients are scheduled to be announced at the Spring Management Conference. Details are still being worked on, but the impact this will have on participating individuals in our industry will be substantial.

The first Regional Meeting is scheduled for March 25 in Birmingham, Alabama. Last year’s Regional Meetings proved to be well worth the time spent. Meetings are announced on our website at www.gawda.org and in the GAWDA Connection.

The Spring Management Conference will be held in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel, located right on the Inner Harbor. In addition to a great setting, topics and presenters, GAWDA President Bryan Keen and his committee are working to make this year’s program substantial and very valuable. Mark your calendar for April 28 to May 1.

Baltimore is close to our nation’s capital and with 2012 being an election year, we’ll be keeping a close watch on the upcoming candidates and what direction the economy may take. Watch for updates and speaker insights at the GAWDA Regional Meetings, Spring Management Conference and Annual Convention.

Another date to mark on your calendar is the Annual Convention, which will be held at the beautiful Broadmoor in Colorado Springs from September 9-12. Watch our website and our publications for more information on the convention as well as all of our programs and meetings. To whet your appetite, go to the Broadmoor website at www.broadmoor.com. Be sure to save these September dates for what will surely be another great convention.

2012 is shaping up to be a bright year for GAWDA. Members are sure to have a year filled with exciting opportunities as we move ahead with President Bryan Keen at the helm. Thank you for your continued support of our association.Gases and Welding Distributors Association
