GAWDA Gives Back Raises $202,750

At GAWDA’s 67th Annual Convention in New York City, two local organizations were the recipients of GAWDA members’ generosity. Representatives from the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation and The Pencil Fellows Program were on hand on Monday morning when GAWDA 2010-2011 President Lloyd Robinson presented two checks, each totaling $101,375.00.

In accepting the check for the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation Chief Jim Lanza said, “I am overwhelmed. Every firefighter in the City of New York is grateful to GAWDA members for your generosity.”

Michael Haberman, president the Pencil Fellows Program, accepted the check and introduced Fellow Yorki Munoz, who is employed part time as a warehouse worker at AWISCO. Munoz spoke about the opportunities the Fellows program has given him.

The 2011 donation of $202,750 brought the 12-year combined GAWDA Gives Back donations to an astounding $1,177,803. To find out how the many benefactors during the first 6 years of the GAWDA Gives Back program put the association’s charitable donations to work, read “GAWDA Made It Possible.”
