Washington Regional Meeting

114 members and 51 guests met at the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, WA, for a GAWDA regional meeting. A full slate of speakers was headlined by Don James, former division-I football coach at Kent State and the University of Washington, who delivered an “old-school” presentation on recruiting and building a strong team. He explained how to recruit talent, what to look for beyond talent, and how to get the most out of that talent. Everyone was delighted with the presentation and looks forward to more speakers like James at future regional meetings.

Oxarc’s Kelly Bladow updated attendees on GAWDA Safety Committee activities and provided an overview of services available to members from GAWDA National and the consultants. Doug Iversen from Computers Unlimited spoke on the topic of “Growth in Mobile Applications & Business Intelligence Tools,” informing members about new technology and hardware available for the industry. Andrew Masterman of ESAB offered attendees a look at what is happening globally in the welding and fabrication markets. He talked about future growth domestically and abroad.

The event included a bocce ball tournament, which was won by Marshall Judy and Dan Fallon. The scramble golf tournament was won by the team of Les Scott, Doug Hohenstein, Dave Bloom and Eric Bliss.
A good time was had by all, thanks to Regional Chairs Rod Wolf and Dale Wilton. Members are looking forward to meeting again next year in Big Sky, MT.
