Cylindrical solar panels will offer Cavagna a 360-degree photovoltaic surface and allow the New Jersey wind and snow to easily pass through.
Somerset, NJ — Cavagna North America will begin installation of a 100-kW rooftop solar array at its 25,000 sq. ft. New Jersey facility in September. The solar array will include 400 cylindrical solar panels that will absorb direct sunlight as well as light reflected off of a new reflective roof. The company will receive a credit for 30 percent of the cost through the Federal Investment Tax Credit, and energy produced in excess of the company’s needs will be sold back to the local utlity company, Public Service Electric & Gas, through solar renewable energy credits (SRECs). “The solar installation is good for the environment and it cuts electricity costs down,” says Rich Darché, president of Cavagna North America. “The reflective roof will also cut down on the heat in our warehouse and manufacturing facility.” With the project expected to be complete and fully operational by year end, Cavagna is looking at a payback on its investment of about 4 years.
